Week 10 11/11 to 11/17
This week our focus is on balance. Balance is what holds us upright and allows us to sit or walk with out falling over. Our muscles are very important when we balance, they control our body and help us to stay still and not wobble.

Week 9 11/4-11/10
This week we focused on locomotor and nonlocomotor skills. Locomotor skills are when we move in different ways to travel to a new location (Running, jumping, galloping, walking and crab walking are just a few examples. Nonlocomotor skills are when we move our bodies, but don't end up in a new location (bending, pushing, pulling and twisting are a few examples)

This week we are practicing traveling in different pathways. We travel in different pathways in everyday life. Traveling in straight, zigzag, and curved pathways are also important in dance and sports.
You will need to create pathways using chalk, tape, 3-4 towels, about 10 books or about 10 pieces of paper.

Week of June 1-5
This week you can choose between a striking activity or an overhand throw activity.
Striking is a term used to in Physical Education. Striking is when you use an implement (hand, foot, bat, hockey stick ...) to contact an object (baseball, tennis ball...) with a controlled hit. Here are some examples of thing you can strike an object with.
For this striking activity you will need an empty paper towel roll or toilet paper roll or you could use a soft ball/toy if you don't have either of those things.

You will need: A sock ball, a chair, a piece of paper or paper plate, tape and 2 towels.

You will need a balloon or a very light soft ball to try some volleyball skills.
Watch this video about some things you can try with a balloon or a light, soft ball. You will learn about levels high, medium and low also.

Here are some of the volleyball skills that can be practiced. Passing or bumping is done with your arms together. This skill is used when the ball is a medium to low level. When the ball is above your head or at a high level, setting with two hands is the proper skill. In years to come we will learn how to hit or spike a volleyball with one hand.

Try these catching challenges that you can do by yourself.
You will need a soft ball or soft item to toss.
If you have someone that can toss a soft ball or something soft to you try this fielding drill.

There are 9 Dribbling and shooting drills. If you don't have a basket to shoot at you can just do the dribbling drills. Try 4 of the 9, you pick which ones you want to try. You will need: 2 balls that bounce (basketball is great, but you can use any bouncy ball), 5 cones or plastic cups are good too and a basket to shoot into.

Week of April 20-24
This week we will be practicing some locomotor skills that we have used during the school year: jumping, hoping and leaping. Look at the pictures below to remind you how to perform these locomotor skills.

Now that you remember how to jump, hop and leap lets play a game called Locomotor Shapes! You will need chalk to make your shapes on a driveway or small area of black top. Check out the link below for how to play with your family or by yourself!

Week of April 13-17
This week lets try bowling. You will need 10 "pins" ( ask your parents but some good items are cups or water bottles) and a ball (basketball, soccer or just a rubber ball). Set up the pins as pictured then take 3, 5 or 7 steps away from the pins. Roll the ball at the pins until you accomplish your goal then go on to the next goal. Good luck!
